Shift and change: sounds a little like a dance step to me and, in fact, when I was a little girl, long before this transition of menopause set in, I did dance and one of the steps was called “ball shift change.”
Not the same thing. Today in the Toronto area where I live the G8 summit and the G20 summit are getting set to start. Now there’s a career I’d rather not have, being one of the security staff in charge of this event. What a nightmare. Everybody seems intent on thinking there’s going to be riots and protests and more riots and so the guns, the police, the barriers and the walls are all out in force.
Just to make things interesting Mama Nature had a hand in the events as well. The entire area experienced an earthquake. Now I know that’s not a big thing for some folks but here, in our area, that’s unusual.
The plates are transitioning, shifting, changing and causing tremors. That whole idea of shifting got me thinking about personal life coaching and the work I do as a women’s health and wellness coach. I don’t try to fix people because I believe there’s nothing wrong with them BUT what I do help with is the shift, the change, the new perspective to look at things in a different way. Why is that important?
When things shift the whole idea base can shift as well, there’s no more stuck place, there’s no more feeling of helplessness, or hopelessness or lack of control. Women experiencing transition, whether through career change, family changes, menopause or life change have a great opportunity to finally sit with themselves and take a look at where they’ve been, where they are now and where they’d like to go. Sitting still with this shift, noticing it, acknowledging it and accepting it is very empowering.
So, today, with the G8, the G20 and the earthquake, I’m wondering: is that enough of a affirmation that change is on it’s way and it’s heading for you?
