I’m a mom so I get it: the overwhelming urge to do whatever it takes to make sure your kids are happy, content, satisfied, good people, well taken care of, whatever is important to you is what you’ll ensure is important for your kids. I get it: you’ve spent many sleepless nights worrying about them when you knew they were old enough to go out and have fun without you. I get it: you’ve spent more money than you ever thought you would on sports teams, equipment, programs, braces, glasses, clothes, accessories, computers, cell phones, school books and supplies. I’m a wife who supported her husband while he went back to school: I get it, I made sacrifices and so have you to support your spouse. I’m a daughter, a sister, a friend, a cousin, an employer, an employee, a volunteer…I get it, you, like me, have done much for many people and have quietly stood in the background and cheered them all on while somewhere deep in the back of your mind something was saying “when is it my turn?” and you kept answering “soon.”
Soon never comes for some people, they keep putting things off: mortgage payments, school tuition, new cars, car repairs, house repairs, medical bills…I get that too: soon doesn’t come very soon.
So, let me ask you this. When is your “soon?” When will your soon happen? When will it be the right time for you to step up and say “well now it’s my turn to take care of me? ” Will that time ever arrive for you, has it arrived already? If it does arrive what will you do? What are you yearning to start, learn, jump in and dig deep for? If not now then when, if not you then who?
Soon….is it now?
